Commissioned by the Sachem Public Library in Holbrook, New York. The 25-foot wide mobile hangs in the library’s rotunda and features eight giant pop-up books based on the heritage of life on Long Island. The oversized books include whimsical depictions of farming, fishing, recreation, transportation and seafaring on Long Island as well as images of Montauk Lighthouse and the Moon Lander that was designed and built on Long Island. This unique work is the latest in a series of sculptures Slim Cook has done for Long Island libraries
Directions to the Library:

From LIE west of exit 61--
Take Exit 61 off the Expressway and take a left (to go north) on Holbrook
Road at the second traffic light on the Service Road. The Library is
approx 1/2 mile north of the LIE on the left side of Holbrook Road
across from the Nokomis Elementary School.

From LIE east of exit 62--
Take Exit 62 off the Expressway and stay on the service road until the first
traffic light after passing the Motorola building. Take a right on Holbrook
Road (to go north) at the traffic light. The Library is approx 1/2
mile north of the LIE on the left side of Holbrook Road across from the
Nokomis Elementary School.
