On November 5, 1921, the press of a button by President Warren G. Harding in Washington, DC, started the generators at RCA Radio Central in Rocky Point. The site then became the world's largest and most powerful wireless transmitting station.

The Rocky Point Revitalization Organization has commissioned internationally known Shoreham sculptor Slim Cook to create a scale reproduction of one of the RCA towers to be placed near the site of the original transmitting station.

Slim had this to say about the important project:

“It is my hope that this sculpture will stimulate local children as well as adults in taking greater pride in their town as a place of historic and cultural importance. Its presence may foster public participation and support of the revitalization and beautification of this ethnically diverse community.”

The specially commissioned artwork was made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. In Suffolk County the Decentralization Program is administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc in partnership with the Suffolk Consortium of Arts Councils.
