Art rocks at Field Day Music Festival

Among the featured events at the June 7-8th Field Day Music Festival in Calverton, New York will be the onsite creation of a 2500 square foot sculpture installation by internationally known Long Island artist Slim Cook. Entitled “RITUALS OF THE ROCK GODS” the landmark artwork will consist of an array of a dozen 10 to 20 foot tall wooden figures in the images of rock “gods” and performers as well as dancers and partying fans. The figures will be created as the musicians are performing.

Slim had this to say about his installation;
“Long Island has a very vibrant art scene and the music scene here is just exploding right now. I have tried to be a force in the effort to bring the two together to create something really new and innovative. This event will be a big step toward that goal. It’s a real honor to be asked to participate in this piece of Rock and Roll history right here on Long Island. Never before has Art of this magnitude been created live onsite during a major concert event like this. I’m very excited about this prospect.”

Slim is launching his new web site in conjunction with the event. It can be found at www.slimcookartstudios.com
